Overall Market Insights

The August 8 models show a clear sector rotation bias. Banks (KBE), consumer staples (XLP), energy (XLE and XOP), and metals & mining short-term (XME) carry the strongest multi-horizon buy consensus. Bonds (BND) and high-yield credit (JNK) remain under pressure with multi-horizon sell signals. Technology is mixed: QQQ posts a strong 5-day buy but flips to sell on the 25- and 30-day horizons. Leveraged products UPRO and TQQQ also split by time frame.

Compared with the August 1 run, the most notable shifts are the strengthening of the KBE and XLP buy clusters and the appearance of a clean 5-day buy on DIA and GLD. The longer-horizon sell pressure on QQQ and BND has persisted for three consecutive weeks.

Highlights of Bullish and Bearish Signals

Bullish clusters

  • KBE shows BUY across 5-, 15-, 20-, 25-, and 30-day horizons (three-model agreement on most).
  • XLP posts BUY on five of the six horizons.
  • XOP and XLE both carry multi-horizon buys focused on the 10- to 25-day window.
  • XME is BUY on the 5- and 10-day windows before flipping to SELL at 30 days.
  • UPRO shows strong BUY at 5, 20, and 25 days.

Bearish clusters

  • BND is Sell on the 20-, 25-, and 30-day horizons.
  • JNK remains Sell on 10- and 25-day windows.
  • QQQ flips from short-term Buy to Sell on the 25- and 30-day horizons.
  • XHB and XBI carry Sell signals in the intermediate window.

Consensus Signal Table

Signals are taken from the “All Buy or Sell” consensus column. Uppercase BUY / SELL indicates three-model agreement. Lowercase indicates two-model or weaker consensus. Empty cells are neutral.

Strong Consensus Trends & External Confirmation

Several three-model agreement signals stand out this week. External sources are used only if they have not appeared in prior posts.

KBE (Bank ETF) — multi-horizon BUY
Why I'm Cautious On U.S. Banks Despite Strong Earnings (Seeking Alpha, July 23, 2026) — The author turns outright bearish on the sector over a 12–24 month window, citing peak earnings risk and CRE exposure. This directly contradicts the model’s multi-horizon BUY cluster and is noted as a counter-signal.

XLP (Consumer Staples) — multi-horizon BUY
XLP Technical Forecast (StockInvest.us, updated Aug 6, 2026) — Rates XLP a Buy candidate with a positive technical score and notes the buy signal that has been active since late July. Aligns with the model consensus.

XLE / XOP (Energy) — intermediate BUY
XLE Analyst Consensus (PriceTargets.com, Aug 7, 2026) — Moderate Buy consensus from nine analysts. Supports the model’s intermediate-horizon energy buys, though earlier June commentary had been more cautious.

QQQ — short-term BUY / longer-term SELL
QQQ Technical Analysis Report (Aug 8, 2026) — Describes a textbook bullish reversal after a sharp correction, with short-term momentum aligned higher while longer-term resistance remains. Consistent with the model’s 5-day BUY versus 25/30-day SELL split.

Across the tracked strong calls from the prior five weeks that have reached or passed their horizon, the hit rate on direction is approximately 45 %. Recent months show modest improvement in the short-horizon bank and staples BUY calls, while energy and homebuilder signals have produced the largest absolute misses.
